Matt Damon Reveals his unique movie kiss Strategy with Scarlett Johansson and her Onion Sandwich breath

Matt Damon shared a funny story about kissing Scarlett Johansson onscreen in the 2011 movie "We Bought a Zoo." Damon, 52, mentioned the unexpected challenge they faced during the filming of a kissing scene.

During an interview for LADbible TV with his Oppenheimer costar Emily Blunt, Damon reminisced about the incident. In the movie, they had a kissing scene after Johansson had an onion sandwich for lunch.

Damon revealed that they thought the kissing scene was already done, but Johansson had eaten an onion sandwich. When she realized this just before the scene, she exclaimed, "Aw s—! I just had – I had, like, an onion sandwich."

Blunt jokingly teased Damon about the situation, saying, "It’s such a shame — she has such terrible lips. Must’ve been so awful."

Damon playfully responded, “It was hell,” adding that he teased Johansson about her onion breath throughout the scene.

Despite the onion incident, Damon humorously claimed, "I was making fun of her the entire time about her onion breath, which I didn’t even smell. ’Cause her breath smells like roses."

The conversation stemmed from Damon discussing whether you should tell someone they have bad breath or keep quiet, citing the experience of having to kiss Scarlett Johansson in the movie.

The onion-laden kiss is just one amusing anecdote from the set of "We Bought a Zoo," where Damon and Johansson played characters who connect after Damon's widower character acquires a new home with a zoo on the property.

Johansson, known for her role as Black Widow, recalled a scary moment on set involving Damon and snakes. She mentioned Damon crying and rocking back and forth when snakes were spread around. Despite Damon's fear, Johansson encouraged him to face it for the scene.

At the film's premiere in December 2011, Johansson explained the challenges, including Damon's fear of snakes. Damon admitted, "I’m afraid of snakes," but he faced his fear for the film, pushed by Johansson and the kids in the cast.

Overall, Damon's interview provided entertaining insights into the behind-the-scenes moments of "We Bought a Zoo" and the amusing challenges faced during the filming process.
